About Us

JA-V Industries of Upland, California, is a small, privately owned job shop. When the original owner of JA-V Industries decided to retire and sell
the business in 1990, Glenn Schierhold - the shop supervisor of 15 years - had an opportunity to
buy the business and make a dream come true. However, that dream involved a company that had no
CNC capabilities or computers. The customer base was shrinking and the eight employees were
offered no benefits. The greatest challenge was debt.
Glenn's 10-year goal was to restructure JA-V Industries and make a positive difference in the lives of the employees. In just 7 years, he has far exceeded his goal. The company now has advanced CAD/CAM and state-of-the-art CNC mills, lathes and machine centers. This equipment allows JA-V to produce complex, close-tolerance parts in a variety of configurations with precision. Operating values and controls provide assurance of the requirements of MIL-I-45208A. State-of-the-art computers allow tracking a part from quotation to invoicing. On-time deliveries of quality parts and competitive prices have attained new customers and reinforced relationships with existing customers. The company now provides a medical plan and profit sharing plan for all it's employees. Employee growth has increased and they enjoy enjoy company picnics, holiday parties and appreciation luncheons. In addition, the debt was paid-in-full 2 years early.
Jon Mansfield nominated JA-V Industries for the Small Business Supplier of the Year for Lockheed Martin Skunkworks in 1998. Jon said that the company has demonstrated its ability and willingness to function as a team member. The JA-V team assisted LMSW in nine purchase orders on one project that consisted of more than 99 different parts and assemblies, totaling over 2800 parts. The project experienced more than 2,000 engineering change notices on mechanical parts alone. Through the company's effective coordination, JA-V stayed current with all changes, and either met or exceeded schedule requirements.
JA-V Industries takes great pride in providing the highest quality standards in the working relationships with its customers. By continually staying current with the latest technological advances while maintaining quality workmanship and customer service, JA-V Industries can be assured a bright and prosperous future for years to come.

CNC Machining & Turning

Advanced CAD/CAM technology allows our Engineers to design or program efficiently and at a
significant cost savings to you. A preview of your finished part can be printed to see if the
results are per your specifications, before the design is transferred to a program readable by
a state-of-the-art CNC mill, lathe, or machine center.
This makes it possible for us to produce complex parts in a variety of configurations, which often requires combining forming techniques with machining and other operations. We work with a variety of materials including alloy steel, aluminum, copper, brass, and Machinable plastics or composites.

Stamping & Fabricating
JA-V Industries has stamping presses ranging in capacity from 2 to 100 tons. Deep draw and progressive dies
are included in our capabilities. JA-V uses press-brake, shear, and tumble deburring to provide complete
in-house fabrication.
Tool & Die
Our complete tool and die department designs and builds a variety of dies and fixtures to support our machining, stamping, and fabrication operations.Test Nuts & Shear Fixtures
Arrie Enterprises, a division of JA-V Industries, produces quality test nuts, shear fixtures and other accessories used for destructive testing of aircraft fasteners. After manufacturing test nuts and test fixtures for over 20 years, Arrie Enterprises introduced a "No Waiting": policy. When you're trying to complete a fastener order, you don't have months to wait for the necessary testing supplies. You need to ship your order now. At Arrie, we'll help you meet your deadlines.
By stocking many of our products in large quantities, we can respond quickly to your needs. Sometimes as quickly as overnight. Even our custom products are delivered in half the industry's standard time. The faster we deliver, the faster you deliver. It's that simple. And, of course, we always deliver top quality products and service.
Test Nuts
We've supplied many of the nation's top aerospace companies with nuts manufactured in accordance with military standard
1312 and NAS 1069. Our ready selection, consistent quality, and reasonable pricing have contributed to long, healthy
relationships with such companies as Boeing and McDonnell Douglas.
Quality - All of our nuts meet or exceed specifications, and we maintain the appropriate documentation. Therefore, each of your orders is completely traceable.
To maintain that quality we've instituted a rigorous training program: our staff undergoes regular instruction in production techniques, documentation, and quality control. That training is necessary because we stand behind all our products.
Economy - We're specialists. We produce thousands of test nuts each year. Your local or in-house job shop doesn't. With our experience, we've learned how to produce test nuts economically without cutting corners. That means we not only know how to deliver a quality product faster, but also at a lower cost.
And, you can save even more by buying in bulk. Our quantity discounts are generous and easy. We'll give you a price break based on your entire order, not just the quantity of a single product. You can even get a discount price on our minimum orders of 25-as long as the total for your purchase meets the quantity requirement.
Convenience - Ordering test nuts off the shelf makes your job easier. There are no specifications or design criteria to explain to production managers. We know the specs. You simply select your part and order it. With most of our test nuts, we'll ship your order within a day.
Although ordering is simple and fast, you're not ordering your testing supplies from a mail order catalog. You're ordering from an expert designer and manufacturer of fastener testing supplies. If you have questions or test problems, a knowledgeable field representative is always available to assist you. Over the phone or on-site, we've got the technical expertise you need.

Fixturing
In addition to carrying a large inventory of test nuts, we also produce shear fixtures, and fixtures for tensile
and fatigue testing machinery such as: M.T.S., Tinius-Olsen, Amsler, and others. Our technical consultants will
design, build, and install fixturing to meet your machine's specifications. The success of installations at
Deutsch Manufacturing, West Coast Aerospace, Boeing, and other top firms has proven our expertise in custom fixturing.
Quality - As with our test nuts, we meet or exceed all specifications and maintain all necessary documentation, making each fixture completely traceable. Our training program is just as rigorous for our fixture line. Combined with our rigid quality controls, it ensures that we deliver top quality products every time.
Top quality means more than just meeting specifications. It means we design better products. Familiarity with your needs and the testing environment enables our designers to modify the industry standard design of many fixtures to increase stability and reliability-giving you a better fixture.
Convenience - Our stocked items, such as gripping collars and fatigue adaptors for Amsler Fatigue Machines can
reach you within days of your order. Even our custom double shear fixtures or our hangers with adapter cups
to facilitate any size fastener have fast delivery-usually under 6 weeks. For added convenience we even
mount shear fixtures on die sets for you, and we also offer repair and regrinding service for the entire shear fixture.
Value - As with our test nuts, our fixtures are a great value, due to our production methods and experience. And our quantity discounts apply here as well-with some products starting as low as 5 pieces.
An Arrie Enterprises test fixture or test nut is an incomparable value. No other supplier has our capability to deliver top quality products, fast turnaround, reasonable pricing, convenient ordering, and sound technical advice.
